  • Powerdesk error with G4x0 dualhead

We use a lot of Matrox G400 and G450 dualhead graphical cards. When we are using the option to switch the active window to the other screen PDesk.exe crashes. The microsoft visual C++ runtime Library errorbox states:

    Runtime Error!
    Program: C:\WINNT\system32\PDesk\PDesk.exe
    abnormal program termination

After clicking OK the PDesk.exe utility stops. The same error occures after using other hotkeys for other functions. We use a lot of different PC configurations.

    Please help with your advise.

    Sincerely,
    Harm

Which drivers do you use (latest version)?

And do all PC configurations have the same problem or just one or two PC's?

By the way welcome to the forum Harm.

Install the latest Intel Inf Update and Intel Application Accellerator and perhaps uninstall PowerDesk software and install it again. Could also be that you need to change the BIOS settings for Video Memory Cache Mode to use USWC and Graphics Aperture Size to 256.
If things don't work out, set AGP Capability to 1X

        Good luck

Perhaps you should do a reset of the BIOS settings.

I have an Asus P4B533-E, which shouldn't be very different from your mainboard, appart from the RAID controller. I didn't have any problems with my trusty old G450, which served me well up until a few days ago when I got the Parhelia.

Investigate if you have conflicts with 3d party drivers. What other hardware do you have on your systems? Do the systems have something in common? Try to install one from scratch, only with the G450 inside the system, and graduately re-insert the other cards.

            Good luck,
            Peter Aragon
