You can't be serious! watching 16:9 skewed to 4:3 aspect ratio monitor! that looks awfull! Just plain... wrong!
Fire up PowerDVD on the primary monitor and make sure you have the program maintain aspect ratio. It will present the full image in a 16:9 window on your screen.

Now compare that to the DVDMax output on the secondary monitor. There is very little difference. I find it more than adequate, you may not. Opinions differ.

btw. I think it's not unfair to expect dvd-max support for HDTV sources by the time HDTV is much more common and a HDTV connection is added to Matrox' hardware.
It's a pretty trivial task to setup seeing as the necessary resolutions and even higher are supported by Parhelia now. If it can manage 2048x1536@85, then 1920x1080 and 1280x720 should be childs play.

I guess you think the top most picture is a good alternative over the bottom one?

        (16:9 stretched fullscreen to 4:3)

(16:9 scaled down to keep aspect ratio for 4:3 output)

You don't also happen to be a huge fan of the movie 'Coneheads' ( http://us.imdb.com/Title?0106598 ), do you?

DVDMax leaves some border. You don't get that effect. You do get a slight squeeze from the left and right. I'll see if I can do a capture.

please do capture the effect, as I have no clue to what you mean.

I can't find a way to capture DVDMax. So I'm having to figure out crude methods through image editing. Start with the 4:3 border image.

              Correct Image/Reference:

I can't get PowerDVD or an image program to mimic DVDMax. I need something that can capture it's overlay.
