  • Oc'ing Parhelia with Bioshack

Yes, its possibel, and realy easy to OC the Parhelia with a Bios hack. With this way you can make the Bulk P. to a Retail too!

What we need is one thing. The Matrox Driver CD.

First you enter the Driver Cd.
    Second, enter in "Run":
    Your letter for cd drive:\SysUtils\pbioswin /d c:\pinsfile.txt

On drive c: you should now find the pinsfile.txt . Open it. You will see a text like this.

    0 2 0x412E
    2 2 0x0200
    4 2 0x0605
    6 2 0x04D5
    8 2 0x0002
    10 2 0x030A

The Numbers on the left side mark the line.

    Third Step:
If you don't want to make a Parhelia Retail, skip this step. But i recommend this, maybe this step chaning something on the voltag, wich allows higher clocks.

You must replace following Codes in order to make a retail P.:
    On line 10 0x830B with 0x030A
    On line 140 0x91750002 with 0x9F810002
    On line 156 0x23230000 with 0x2A2A0000
    On line 380 0x42383231 with 0x52383231

    Fourth Step:
    Changing the clocks.
Line 36 and 56 are the Clocks.
    Bulk Version:
    Line 36: 200000 ( GPU )
    Line 56: 500000 ( Ram )
    Retail:
    220000 ( GPU )
    550000 ( Ram )

Can you see the clock? As example, i have overlocked my Ram to 600 Mhz:
    600000

    !WARNING!
I still don't know, if you can enter, as exampel, 223000! I don't try it, beacuse i want not that my GPU runs at 2,3 Ghz

    Fift step:
    Again go to Run:
    Your letter for cd drive:\SysUtils\pbioswin /s c:\pinsfile.txt

After the dos window has closed, reboot you PC.

Now you should have a overlocked Parhelia

Before you try this, make a backup bootdisk!!! This is the way to save your Bios: Enter in "Run" this:
    Your letter for cd drive:\SysUtils\pbioswin /o c:\mtxbios.bin
But i don't know how to make a bootdisk, wich flash automaticly the Bios

If something goes wrong, i will take no warranty! Its on your one risk!

This is realy better than the Matrox OC tool.

Thanks to my japanese friend, who tells me how to make this

People have been overclocking their Matrox cards this way since G400. My vanilla G400 has been running as a Max for years.

It's best to use the software overclocker to find your cards limits first. If you o/c it too far with the BIOS, it can be a pain to get back to normal speeds (and can potentially damage the card). Figure out how far your card will go with software, then take it down a notch or two for the BIOS hacking...

Ant did this a couple months ago & there was a thread on it... nice howto outline tho

Anyone attempting this must be absolutely certain of their actions. Please know what your card can do beforehand under a worse case scenerio... we don't want see any Parhelia's going belly up rendering it useless because of a mistake, not to mention voiding the warranty

Do a search for "G400 bios pins" and see all the threads with pin(s) or bios overclocking in the title.

            Sweet....I'll be doing this indeed....

3.3ns Ram is certified to run at 303mhz anyway...

As for the core, I'm not sure I can go much faster than 232mhz, but I'll continue to experiment....

Only weird thing is the following: Ant was able to take his core all the way to 250mhz!!!

There's many factors involved when overclocking. The think to remember is that no two systems will always overclock to the same extent

nifty! much more risky than the MTSTU but at least you arent limited to the synchronised overclock the MTSTU offers. i'm quite sure the core is holding you back in the MTSTU, the mem'd probably go much higher.
