Moved back to a more powerful fan on the Parhelia and 240mhz now stable!!!

    Currently running at 240/600.

    UT2k3 demo benchmark at 1024x768 Flyby/Botmatch 123.5/53.95

Apparantly my previous result of 62 for the botmatch was a fluke....

Damn.. i could not get any Mhz higher, but the P. stays so cool... Maybe it is the fact that my P. have a power problem. Since i have it, i need 2 starts to make the card run and she does very high whistle, if she works in 3D ...
      System:
      P III-S 1.4@1.52
      512 MB SDR-Ram

...two starts? Never had that. What tune does it whistle?
How can you possibly take anything seriously?
        Who cares?

          For Germans:
Die Karte blässt mir mit ihrem hoch frequentem pfeifen das Gehirn raus...

          For the others:
You know a tinitus? It sounds like this.

...he said his P gave off a high frequency whistle that was frying his brain. I asked him if he still had a brain, I didn't.

                Little private joking.

I've got no need to OC my P or the computer either, really. They are both fast enough. I do like things to run quiet, cooler and smooth though...

Well this bios thing works well, im at retail level presently
I will try to o/c more with the o/c tools , to see if there's any diff now that the bios sees it like retail(voltage ?) ( i couldn't o/c very much past retail level before).

Well this is strange... the highest BIOS overclock I can do is 225/290 but if I put my BIOS back to OEM 200/250 I can do a software overclock of 20%!?!?!

                      I just don't get it.

nForce2 MX intergrated video is actually pretty darn good, but I do miss 16xFAA!?!? Way to go nVidia.

                      MSI nForce2
                      Tons of RAM
                      Tons of HD space

                        I've settled on a speed of 240/620 for now with a 3dmark score of 8852: http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=4769751

                          Strange thing I've noticed.
When I set my Bios to retail, If i use the o/c tools and put it under 10%, I actually underclock my card, the tool is still seing it as OEM and is setting the clock accordingly, i.e. if i set it to 5% o/c with my bios flash for retail, i get a 5% decrease in clock speed. (im at 210 core i guess).

On a side note even if i have infineon 3.3 ns ram on my card which could theorically hit 300 Mhz, i crashed in 3d apps with the mem set that high. 275 works fine tough, but the gain is minimal at best vs 550.

I've tried to raise the core but at 330 i get bad crash. (thats what you get with OEM). Probably with some other fan i could get it higher, but i don't feel like taking the risk of destroying the card for 5 fps gain...

Try at least the following: replace the thermal pad on the parhelia with AS3....

...I did that with AS3, which goops all over everything and IS conductive, and changed it to Titan Silver Grease which is better to spread and 1C or 2C cooler. Still better is Coolmaster Premium Gold, if you can get a fresh one.

Settled on 238/620 for reasons of long-term stability....would go higher if volt-mod option was available...
