      • huh??? some beta Ps were produced in yellow PCB? I thought all beta Ps have the more ordinary "green" PCB color to it (what i meant was a color darker than the retail/buck Ps we see in stores). For my Parhelia II, i want mine to be transparent so that we can see the back of the Parhelia

        • well, not really a yellow color... more of the ugly yellow/greenish color that the early boards had... compare gamepc's picture and darkcrows picture.

i am always fond of the darker shade of green...

            • It's very tragic to to read the news about MAtrox on the front page of MURC. This is what I have been fearing since I saw benchmarks for the Parhelia. Matrox is having problems with the hardware design off the Parhelia, my Parhelia frezes up when you stress it over a long time in 3D, and I belive this is due to heating problems.

I realy hope something is done in Matrox Grphics before its too late. They should invest in good equipment, and they should have good enginners. Imagine dropping å årodickt that is almost finished, yes, that must have been the good old MAtrox F800 and F450 (Fution) that we saw in the old drivers!

But I belive getting Parhelia out was a good thing for Matrox, I hope they keep on making better drivers, and that the upcomming revision of Parhelia fixes all the hardware bugs we know about! It isn't lo late yet!

              Come on Matrox!

              • Who cares about the next revision of Parhelia, after they've already released such a low-quality version this time, and think that if they ignore it it will go away?
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

Well, if it doesn't support DirectX9 then gamers will stear clear of it. Maybe OpenGL 2 as well.

                  • I'd care. I'm holding out on Parhelia because of the banding. They have Win2000 drivers, otherwise exemplary image quality, etc etc.

I could give a *cough* about the speed, although it would be nice faster (as always), although I'd love a price reduction...

rubbish. OpenGL 2 is a long ways off and many people buy video cards regardless of the level of DirectX it supports. the MX cards are a very good indication of this, as it only supports DirectX 7 and it still sells fairly well. same with the 7500's. just the counterstrike FPS weenies will have a problem with it...

and, what Wombat was saying is that by paying attention to the next revision so much we are giving Matrox what they want... we are ignoring the problems in this revision, problems which were fairly deleberately left in the core....

It's useless to buy a DX9 card now when DX9 is NOT out...

will there be a fully-DX9 P-II next year when DX9 is released?

anyways. where are the DX 8 games that ATI/NV "promised" as they made their chips?
