  • Weird system slowdowns with G400MAX

When my GF3 broke over three months back, I saw the ideal opportunity to put my beloved G400MAX back in my box. For a while all seemed fine, but the past month everything just went a little crazy.

For some reason, icons wouldn't show anymore, winamp was one big black box, and other oddities, and the overall feel of my computer was far below of what the specs would suggest.

Now, I got a GF4 back as RMA for that card, a ti4400, and I am pleasantly surprised by the image quality and everything, and all of a sudden, everything is up to par again.

I put that G400 in my other box to replace the G200 that was in there, and it shows none of those symptoms. Very very weird.

Was gonna sell the replacement, but with the current situation at Matrox, I'd rather wait a year and see what happens, and use up this GF4 for all it's worth.
When I was still a kid, my parents got me a Packard Bell. I've never been happier. Now it's degraded to a foot support.

It suspect it to be something software/driver related. Because it runs fine in my other box now, we'll see what happens in a few months. It still runs games and even when it was in my box it was ok, playing games without any problems, but the 2D part seemed somewhat messed up.

If I replace my G400 with my ProphetII MX I can completely uninstall Powerdesk and install Detonators.

Vice-versa doesn't work. Are you sure you removed all nVidia drivers since uninstall does not take care of that. You can try format and reinstall = normal policy for any new PCI/AGP aded for me.

When I put the g400 in, it was on a clean install, right after a format c:\ so that's got nothing to do with it. There had not been any nvidia card installed on that install.
