  • What drivers and Why?

What drivers do you use for your Parhelia and why?

  • #2
the 1.02 beta's, because i am too lazy to uninstall, reboot, instal 1.02 final, reboot, adjust all the settings (which means several reboots) and starting all over again in a few weeks when a new driver hits the streets.

Is there a big difference between the 2 anyway? I use the 1.2.0.42 's are the 1.01.01.083 any good?

        Yes.

The 1.02's have loads of bug fixes and are faster.

The only advantage the older drivers have imo is that Q3 based games with FAA enabled have white flickering on some levels. MOHAA training level is an example

Stick with the 1.02's - generally speaking, the latest non-betas are the best with Matrox - things don't break too often (heh - we've got some good beta boyz!) - and with the P features and speed are added. If you ever hit a specific problem with a specific app that appears to be driver-related, check here and with the Matrox Tech support forums if it's a known problem. Only if someone else confirms the problem with the drivers you are using and suggests earlier ones is it really worth changing...

as soon as they are mature enough to make a difference over the last ones officially posted ... plain and simple.

Seriously, Matrox is known for improving their drivers, rather than leaking drivers that make and break things, depending on your system config.

                    - I found the 102.02.003 Set of drivers on their site. I found it by following their Workstation Drivers for Softimage XSI 3.0 (Softimage Certified). You gotta sign up for a couple things before downloading them. Havnt installed them yet, as there are no release notes, and i have been busy playing Natural Selection(best HL mod out now IMO). I guess ill install them after this post. Yes, IMO Softimage XSI 3.0 is leaps better then Maya 4.5 IMO if anyone cares, (more intuitive, nice interface, more dynamic options and more bug-free then Maya with the Parhelia too, im thinking of switching over, heh)

Also, Matrox now has Windows Certified WHQL Drivers ready for download Set 1.01.01.083. -

These appear to be the 1.02.02.003, as contrasted with 1.02.00.042
