    my vote on the clockspeed isn't 300... its 297... doh...

              i guess the need for the large heatsink could have been the chip was on 0.18 U . It could have tested ok. at 300 mhz everythung was fine. then they shrank it to .15u to reduce heat. some temp sneezed on the tape and didn't tell anyone just rubbed it with his sleeve. and the banding prob showed up.

                  greebe: just out of curiousity, does your NDA expire when matrox is no more (god forbid)? i mean there has to be someone to sue you for breaking the nda or not?

                    Most NDA's only expire after a certain (fixed) amount of time, if at all. Greebe and those are lucky, as there are a fair amount of NDA's that forbid discussion or mentioning the NDA, etc...
