Ok, again, thanks Maggi !
Now that I know what the problem is, I'm actually becoming more tempted towards the Parhelia (I thought it was much worse than this - allthough it can be annoying); every other card I was considering has issues as well (and this banding seems to be the lesser of all evils for me).

similar ... I guess that's the reason why some people were suspecting their monitors causing this, due to bad shielding.
