  • What is a good setup for 4 displays?

I'm going to be putting together a system that has 4 monitors: 2 LCD (18", 20") and 2 19" CRTs. I'm only interested in 2D performance. What would be a good, fairly cheap, way to drive the displays? Would using a G550 and a PCI G450 work together? Any better ideas?

    Intel chipset-based motherboard?

Sounds like a good idea though, although a G450 MMS might also be good, albeit likely to be more costly, unless you can get en eBay bargain.

sounds great to me. also maybe you can get the G450 PCI w/DVI interface right now, if your LCDs can do DVI. BTW: sounds like a sweet workstation setup... darn i want one too

One thing to keep an eye on is max DVI res. What's that 20" lcd run at? A lot of boards can't do more than 1280x1024 DVI. If I remember right the G550 is stuck at 1280. You might want to go & dig through some specs before taking the leap if your lcd runs at 1600x1200.
