  • Leadtek, ATI, Hauppauge - Will these work with Matrox cards?

I have a g450etv and love it, unfortunately it doesn't have a dvi output for a lcd monitor.

I'm thinking of getting either a G550 or Parhelia, which of the above TV tuner cards will work with these Matrox cards?

I've gotten used to the tv tuner function and can't do without it!

Do either the G550 or Parhelia have video in? If so, I could use a VCR's tv tuner. I'd rather not though.

Yes they will work, but sadly neither the G550 nor Parhelia has vid in

      Greebe,

Thanks for taking the time to help me out. Are you sure the ATI TV Wonder will work with Matrox? I remember hearing around here that they won't get along together. I checked the ATI website and they don't specifically mention Matrox as being compatible, they only say the video card must be use Direct X overlay, which I assume both the cards I listed do.

Sorry to be a pain, but I want to be absolutely sure before I start buying components!

      Thanks again.

The TV wonder has some piss-poor drivers. I'd go with a card from Avermedia if I were you...

Oh yeah, one more thing. I've noticed that you're using the Hauppauge 401. Does that unit do TV full screen or only in a window? Finally, does it capture 720x480 or 704x480?

          Thanks.

The only reason I mention the ATI TV Wonder is because I used to have a AIW 128 and AIW Pro 128 before my g450etv. Although the TV out was really bad with those cards, the tv tuner and capture was excellent.

                  Thanks for the help guys.

I've used Hauppauge Cards with both the G400 and G550 without problems.

Used one on a Mystique 220 as well!

The only problem I have with Wintv cards is that the teletext always produces a Dr Watson several seconds after exiting. It ain't the video card and it ain't the memory or Wintv card or motherboard as they've all changed over the last year.
