    G400 underlock limit?

    After i overclocked the card some weeks ago via PINS to play some Q3 i figured i let its 3D engine rest in peace and underclock the card to make it run as cool as possible.

    Is sth. like 90/120 a good idea? Or will 2D stuff like window movement and things like that be noticeably slower.
    no matrox, no matroxusers.

    as cool as possible???? at default speed the vanilla G400 will never overheat with the normal heatsink.

      when i touch the PCB it is fairly hot and the heatsink as well. this heats up my case and the hotter the air is in there the faster the fans need to run. this makes noise, and i dont like noise
      i know we are probably only talking of 2 or 3 degrees celsius case air temp here but nevertheless.

        You're not even talking 2-3C. The card only uses a few watts.

        Parhelia, OTOH.....
        Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

          yeah, the G400 would only dissipate a relatively TINY amount of heat as compared to your XP1600 @ 1.633 GHz

            G400 is very hot , not fit on OC
