  • P 1.03.00.043 drivers issues

I wonder if anyone else has issues similar to mine and how do you deal with them.

    Issue#1:
Parhelia has problems coming up after system wakes up after
sleep(S3)/hibernate. I've tried matrox support forum, but got
canned "remove drivers, install via's 4-1, install drivers, see if it
works" reply. Well, tried that, didn't work. This has been an issue
since the very first driver release and it's still in 1.3.0.43.

The symptoms are very strange. Monitor indicates that it's got
video signal for about 1 sec and then the signal disappears and
the screen stays blank forever. Fortunately, I've discovered that
the system is up and running and responds to keyboard, so I can
safely reboot it. If I just reset the system (as I did until I
discovered that it's just a video issue) then next time I boot
WinXP pops up a dialog saying that Parhelia drivers
caused "serious system problem" and attempts to send report to
    Microsoft.

    Issue#2 (1.0.3.43 driver):
Good news is that PowerDeskHF works (it didn't in 1.0.2).
Bad news is that when I switch user in WinXP system reboots.
Always. So I had to move back to 1.0.2 which does not reboot.

For the reference, here's my HW setup:
    Athlon XP 1700, 512M RAM
    Shuttle AK35GTR Motherboard
    SB Live!
    DE500 Ethernet card.
AGP has got IRQ of its own.

G400MAX worked in the same machine without any issues
whatsoever, so I'm occasionally tempted to put it back.

For now I'm sticking with 1.0.2 drivers with completely
unfunctional powerdesk. But at least my machine is stable.

I'd appreciate any tips on how to get rid of these annoyances.

My system has the same sleep problem, but only for 2nd head.
I have to change colour depth to 16bit and then change it back to 32bit to get it come back.

I've never had a problem coming out of hibernate/sleep mode.

Yes. That's exactly the message I get. What mother board do you have?

I do, but then again that's because my alarm goes of at 4:55am every week day morning.. Ugh.

But seriously, I haven't had that problem, then again I can honestly say I don't go into hybernate/sleep mode. I only have my monitor turned off.

Bummer. So, I'm not the only one after all. I think I'll post a
message on matrox support forums tomorrow.
Who knows, maybe this time they'll be able to suggest something
other than "re-install and everything will be fine". One can hope.
