Matrox Parhelia and Windows XP?

Now a have Windows 2000 on my PC with a Matrox Parhelia installed and i have to restart when switching to independend dualhead mode (multifunction) (not clone or stretch mode).
Somwhere i heard that under Windows Xp that is not necessary.
Is that true?

Matrox rox, S3 sucks!
