    I'm not kidding. It indeed is really , apparantly MSI didn't test things after their "fix".

    Do a search on Matrox' forum. Thats where I find the cure for this problem (going back to v3.3). We're not exactly the only one with this problem.

    Although it is strange that you got the same problems in W2k.. My dad's system (that's the one with the MSI board, I don't want via-chips in my systems ) worked fine in W2k with newer BIOS..
    Perhaps the drivers did "something" to the system in XP to mess things up?

      I think you're right. I'm running on bios version 3.3 for a few days now on a brandnew W2K installation and it seems to be running fine.

      Last night I installed WindowsXP on another partition and so far so good. This evening I will test is thoroughly.

      My holliday in the snow (France) was great

        some wrong with via motherboard
        or the 5.88 driver isn't stable

          At least it works fine again on my i845G/G550 system as ver 5.72/5.82 under Windows 2000.

          I met the forever sleeping issue with version 5.84~5.86 on G400DH/G550 after 1~2 days uptime.
