  • Parhelia Drivers?

    When???

    we don't have an answer either, and this situation is really getting rediculous. I've completely lost my confidence in Matrox's abilities.

      Some compagnies have a six month product cycle;

      Matrox also want a six month cycle, but they can't for their product, so, they decide to have it for their drivers.

        Amiga Blitter, why exactly do you need new drivers?

        Is it because you have a problem, or is it simply because you would like to install new drivers and then go bitchin' how they didn't deliver 30% more overall performance you were led to believe they would bring, and then bash Matrox driver dev team?
        Considering your posts in the past, I would go for the latter...

        Apologies if that's not the case...

          Well, getting Vertex Shader 2.0, DX9 compatability, and Displacement Mapping via DX9 as promised would sure be a plus...

          Driver bugs in a huge number of apps need to be resolved...

          And then, having a new driver to play with is always fun...

                I doubt they can implement Vertex Shader 2.0 in software only....afaik only SiS has a software Vertex Shader (i think except for the Xabre600 where it's in hardware) and it performs horribly.
                All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

                  Parhelia supposedly has a VS2.0 array in hardware so there's no need to emulate anything... Pity is it still isn't enabled via drivers...

                    2 engine of the chip doesn't work at the moment. i hope in future release of the drivers they enable this feature. We have buy a card that run at half of his potentiality.

                          Interesting hypothesis... on which facts do you base this?

                            I don't see a reason for Matrox disabling 2 of their VS in drivers? For what purpose? Blitter, would you care to explain...

                              I probably need to go and read up on my VS knowledge, but what characterises a VS 2.0? The 256 constant registers? The QVSA? It doesn't really say what version of VS it is on that page. And why would only 2 units be operational at the moment? Especially since Matrox makes such a big deal of it being four, and all...
