I was getting something similar to this, but only when Motherboard Monitor crashes and/or my computer has been on a long time without a reboot.

I get it all the time, almost. And I have been doing so since i bought the card. I am tired of my Parhelia, the banding, this, bad game performance and the really bad drivers!

Any ideas on how to fix this with the popups?

        What OS are you using?

My new Parhelia works like a charm with Win2k Server SP3 and I have yet to see any banding when playing GTA VC or Unreal 2, even if I have to play at only 1280x1024 and with limited AF + no AA.

        Maybe I'm cursed or something?

My board has the 1.2-11 BIOS and I'm using it with the 1.4.0.78 drivers.

hmm, only have the 1.0 - 4 bios on this puppy.
The strange tooltips are a result of the tooltip being the size of the previous tip. if you hover away and then back the tooltip seems to be okay. Seems to be a driver bug. It occurs more often after you use DVDMax with one monitor and tv-out as the feature display.
Oh jeah, this is the case on both Windows XP and 2003 enterprise server. But I've been getting used to it. I wonder how they would get this one to be certified as it would easily be to blame Windows for this mock-up.

update: just run a movie with DVDMax enabled and go to the taskbar and hover above the butons, you'll see the size of the tooltip is in erffect the size of the previous one.

            Eon,
from where did you get that BIOS 1.2-11? Was it already in your Parhelia, when you bought your card? I can't find it anywhere at Matrox website. I wonder what is fixed compared to older 1.0 -4...

Edit: I believe those popups have something to do with Windows accessibility/quality/performance options or similar. Maybe you can turn it off same way as the fading effects etc. I see the same kind of popup every once in a while.

                Thanks for info, Lim!
Can you see the "banding" effect on your Parhelia?

I use one 15 inch LCD monitor and do not see any banding effect.
I find out that my card cannot be BIOS hack overclock. I am not sure whether it is the 256m version or new BIOS problem.

                    Most interesting!
Your LCD monitor is using digital connection, am I right?

The 1.2-11 BIOS was the on the board when I got it; I'm using two CRTs - one GDM-F520 and one GDM-FW900.

Are you refer to Windows XP Pro startup logo?
