Ok 1600x1200 will only work with ancient games then ... not a problem was just curious. Now the only thing i need is a DVI->TV adapter ... where do i get them ... how much are they?

ps. obvious question ... and doesn't affect me since i'll be running DVI but ... no sign of banding right?

Sasq, it's lookin' pretty good so far, especially considering the extremely low clocks. I wonder if it will OC well or not.

@thop Haven't seen you here in a long time.

not that i can see, AFAIK there is no banding issue with the P series, but that is AFAIK

Just for comparison, my Kyro II gets 1611 (though on a Duron750 w/ 256MB DDR).

Thop, you got too much money or something? *envious*
The P750 would be the better choice for games (even old ones) at that resolution. BTW the NEC-Mitsubishi LCD 2080 UX is a damn fine screen - if you want, I can send you the excellent big c't 20+ inch LCD comparison.

bsd: yeah, it looks like a good card for its target. by the weekend I'll have some benches up for the g550 as well. personally i don't like the game bences that much, but it gives at least a rough guide to compare the three.

The parts that ran fine on specViewPerf seemed to be doing well all things considered

Indeed the 2080UX is just an excellent monitor ... but way too epensive for me (to answer your question). I got a very good offer for another 20" which also does pretty good in that test (the P3M) which i simply cannot resist.

P750 is about 60€ more ... since i won't be playing games anway (except for W3 TFT when it comes out, maybe) it doesn't make a difference i guess. W3 is not very demanding on the gfx card so it should be fine. However the P750 comes with DVI->TV cable right? If that cable alone is like 20€ i might consider the P750.

Yes, it does come with that cable - and triplehead.

What are you paying for the P3M?

It's very nice to see benchmarks like that for P750.
It has quite a good performance for a high-quality workstation card.

@thop, don't you think that on 1600x1200 TFT games will look good and will be playable in 800x600 (perhaps even with FAA)?

But I'm afraid that only perhaps - look at the performance hit while using FAA in comparision to Parhelia.

                        az: 750€

Nowhere: i assume 800x600 will look very ugly ... unless you sit 5m away from the screen. btw. welcome to the EU

I assume that on a screen with decent interpolation (which virtually all quality big screens have), especially 800x600 would look good, because there would be no need for some "odd" pixel interpolation.

@az - that is just what I was thinking about. And I think it'll look almost very good with FAA.

btw thop, thanks It all turned out good despite wishes of some stupid people (interests of the party mainly).
There's something little annoying though: MSNBC, BBC or CNN. Where they've come up with such photos? And I'm wondering why some people think that we have here only woods, wolves and bears. (this goes mainly to the latter two)

Not to mention that I had never seen such photo of Kwasniewski - why somebody preffered this one? Just look at it.

edit: Luckily now there's normal photo on CNN - but look at the BBC and guess how the old one looked like

Sasq, when you are running P750 tests, can you check Powervr Fablemark with FAA on, if they did any improvements with FAA and Stencil Buffers it could probably be found there.

And what about the sound aspect of the card? It has a fan on top of the processor, does it produce a lot of noise? Or is it fairly quiet?

As you can see in my sig, I am doubting to go for the P750 or the P650. (I have a G200 PCI possibly for the second display to be able to use the video out with the P650)
