  • Zalman ZM-80A HP - last word

    Hi,

Is it compatible with Parhelia? I would like to buy it, but i still don't know anything about compatibility.

Sorry for this thread, but it's very important for me.
    Thx4All.

    http://www.google.com + "Zalman ZM-80A HP Parhelia" =

    Go nuts.

I had Saphire Radeon 9700 Pro with Zalman ZM-80A HP on it on test, and it's just to hevy. And it's not THAT good. I didn't try to put it on Parhelia (didn't have any ), but it seams that it is no go.

A quick search of these foums turned up several refs to the Zalman coolers. This one in particular inclused posts from a user who used that cooler on a parhelia (aint that search button handy?)

          Hi,
I'm really sorry for this thread. My english is poor, I was reading posts about Zalman+Parhelia, but I wanted to see answer, for example: "yes, it is compatible" or "no, Zalman is not compatible with Parhelia". This is why I wrote in topic "last word".
@Kruzin - thanks, if you want - remove this thread
          Greetings and EOT, FLITH

this is more complicated than just last word, i have one right on my parhelia in my computer and have had it on there for 2 months now no pproblems, it colls slightly better than tyhe stock cooler without a fan and with a fan quite a bit better, i went from a max overclock of 228 to 234 with this, so yes in terms of physically fitting on the card it is cpmpatable with a normal unmodified card and unmodified zalman, however on zalmans website it first said parhelia was compatable with the A variant but now it says not, i think this is because it does now fully cover the heatspreader on parhelia but thi s uis not important as it can remove enough heat with the area which it covers, yes it does fit is the answer.

not compatible, at least that's what is says on the box and in the manual.

according to Zalman there are no holes for mounting the damn thing.

i know, people here have them on there parhelia, but the manual and box definetly say it's not intended for use with a parhelia.

Well it still works, no matter what the box says, and that is the key argument..

Until something goes pop. I presume the company covering themselfs since it doesn't cover all of the core.

i dont think they are alowed to say its compatible because matrox did not certify it compatible, bottom line it removes enough heat from the chip and its just the outer edges of the heatspreader that are not covered, these do not directly cover any part of the core so if the heat removal in the centre of the core is good enough(which it is) then it does not matter if its not fully covered, the reason that pit gave is true though.
