  • Parhelia + WinXP Pro, .NET not found on driver install...

    Evening all,

I've trawled through all the FAQs and Forums and such, but I've not found an answer... so...

I've just made a fresh install of WinXP Pro and my trusty Parhelia. I Windows updated the .NET bit before I installed the Parhelia Drivers (as PowerDesk) needs .NET. Started to install the drivers only to be told that the .NET stuff has not been found (yes I have rebooted). I installed anyway.

Later on I patched my way through the Windows Update and installed .NET 1.1. I tried again (did not uninstall Parhelia drivers). It still gave me the same, "can't find .NET gubbins!"

    Ideas people?

    Robert. (who loves his P).

Parhelia NEEDS .NET installed before you attempt to do a driver install. So, I would say, remove your parhelia drivers, completely using the Un-installer and the tool on matrox Utils section of the web site. And then try again. Make sure you have .NET installed (at least .NET 1.0 if not 1.1). Good luck!

      Hi!

Parhelia requires the .NET Framework 1.0 and ServicePack2 for that to work properly.

      You can get them here:

If the .NET is not being found on your system, try checking Start -> Windows Updates then see if the option to install .NET is available.

If it is, go ahead and install it (after completely uninstalling the Parhelia drivers first), reboot then you go back to Windows Update to see if it lists .NET as an option to install. If it's gone, the installation should have gone smoothly.

        Then install the Parhelia drivers.

          Hi Sales

I doubt that is going to work. WindowsUpdate will only show .NET version 1.1 and not version 1.0 which is the version that PowerDesk still needs.

Robert, just follow Mikko's links and install them, Don't worry about .NET 1.1, both versions can live happily next to each other on your PC.

          Good luck

.net is only needed to use powerdesk.
I have installed the drivers without .net.
I then installed .net off the CD

              Hi all,

Mikko, problem solved. I installed the 1st of the two patches and my 'M' icon appeared in my Start bar. I installed the second patch just on principle.

              Thanks all.
