  • Matrox Parhelia - No DirectX 9 Features

Technology News and Analysis for Power Users, Enthusiasts, IT Pros, and PC Gamers.

Not content with letting NVIDIA (& ATi sorta) getting bad press of late, Matrox have decided to join the party. So you thought the Matrox Parhelia had partial DirectX 9 features support? Well, apparently it doesn't, as you see Matrox have removed all DirectX 9 feature references from the Parhelia specifications.

More info. on MURC. You can view the check Parhelia's features & specs here, updated to not mention any DirectX 9 feature support. Props to Matrox for their late, & winning, entry to the How low can you go? competition. I'd be curious to know whether Matrox will refund users who purchased the Parhelia in part based on this partial DirectX 9 advertised support.
According to the latest official figures, 43% of all statistics are totally worthless...

This is pretty sad to see from a company. A driver cheat? Well that's fixable, but to remove DX9 specs because they are too lazy to support it is down right ignorant and a sense of false advertising if you purchased the card based on "future proof". I used to defend Matrox as them having solid products, but when a company removes something that they used to lure customers is just not the thing to do. I guess matrox wants to kill off any of their gaming following. Nice going Matrox...

Well, Kyle has already shown he can bend M to his will, I wonder if these will convince any of the Matrox bigwigs...

Reminds me of the OpenGL ICD for G200...

              This is bad... very bad.

whops, there's goes hopes for dx9 drivers, whops, there goes reliability.

IF they would think about another come back some day, they have to re-build everything from scratch again.

EDIT: now I read that X-bit labs news and only thing I can say is "Oh God, why I had to see this day too?"

Things are really in dead end right now. quoting Haig from free forums as official manager statement is so wrong, but what matrox really can do? if they offend those sites, catastrophe get even bigger measurements, because they definately will publish that as Matrox would like to hide removing those dx9 features and the key thing is forgotten totally.

Matrox, now you are in so deep, that I don't have even a clue what I would do to clear up this mess if I'd be part of the management. "good luck..." no, let me be corrected: "I pray for a miracle, you need a one. a big one."

something mysterious happened to that x-bit document... all Haig quotes are gone... I don't know if it was me, but sure I am happy that x-bit writers got the idea how wrong way that story could be got by readers.

thanks modifying it, if you are reading this. now it is much more close representing the real situation.

hmm... this maybe a good thing for Matrox. They should learn their lesson. But then again after the G200 OGL ICD, I guess they never learn took, so that's the bad part

Haig is still mentioned on this Xbitlabs link: http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/video/d...027090711.html

And theres a couple of links back to good old MURC.

Furthermore, theres the elusive 2004 new matrox chip...
