Sharing one of two monitors using G550

I have a Matrox G550 and Win XP with two analog monitors. I would like to be able to share one of those monitors with a different computer (on Win 98se) without shut down, replug, and power up. Is it possible to do this in a straightforward way with some sort of switching scheme?

Hi Jim,

there are quite a few monitor switches available, some also offer to switch your mouse and keyboard simultaneously as well, without having to reboot or whatever.

I use a Belkin KVM here for my 3rd monitor and it's fine. The monitor's a bit dodgy anyway and so I don't notice any signal quality loss

Another possibility is to use a screen with both an analog and a digital input, or with two analog inputs. Then it’s possible to switch with a button on the screen. Two Viewsonic VP171/191 monitors gives the possibility to have dualmonitor on one computer and still have four analog inputs for more dualmonitor computers or up to four more computers…

Main rig with Parhelia, secondary rig with G400DH and several other computers make this a must for me. :^)

Problem solved. I got a Belkin 2-port KVM switch. It is connected to one side of the Matrox G550 dualhead. It works fine. The #2 monitor can be switched between cpu 1 and cpu 2 with no problem. Thanks Maggi.
