Phew, after 3 years my office computer is finally getting fully upgraded to new stuff.
So, I am getting P750 to replace my G400. Perfect
I am going to have my old Viewsonic PF790 plus i am getting P90F to replace that non-flat HP that I got by chance.
Anyways, question is what I will be able to get in addition to what I had in G400 and faster 3D.
Here's what I am doing normally:
- Programming in Visual Studio .NET
- Extensively using Photoshop, including 16bit mode to work on my 12bit photos that come from Canon D30
- Using XaraX
- Playing Half-Life Natural Selection (NS)
For now, I was planning on utilizing 10bit color, glyph antialiasing and faster 3D (G400 really doesn't give me any type of good performance in NS, around 30fps at 640x480)
I am wondering which other apps I can use or which new features I might get. Suspects include:
- FSAA in Half-Life. Is that possible?
- CaptureOne DSLR. Does it support 10bit? Which other graphics apps support it anyways?
- Faster drawing in XaraX. Does glyph antialiasing affect it in anything besides fonts?
- Separate color calibration on both monitors. I am using photoshop views on different monitors alot, i guess it will work. On a related point, the lack of support of dual monitors in Photoshop, because it uses MDI, is really annoying.
- Dual overlays. I like to drag secondary window to another monitor to watch video. Can i do that, does it switch without interruption?
- I am planning to run Windows 2003 server (big time developer workstation), are there any font-display enhancements in it? I heard of clear-type, but that's only for LCDs? Glyph antialiasing is listed as supported in windows 2000 and XP.
- Oh, almost forgot. Simcity 4. Bought it on pre-order, but my current computer is killing me when playing it It has hardware-accelerated graphics. Is it supported by new cards? Originaly I was reading of only GF successfully accelerating it.
Sorry for so many questions, but I am really excided, can't wait. Checking newegg order page every hour...
