  • G400 problem

My G400 stoped working after another reboot. Motherboard bios gives an Video adapter error (1 long, 2 short beeps). I tried the recovery disk but it gives me this output:

    Matrox Recover Utility V1.8
(C)1999 Matrox Graphics USE WITH CAUTION!!
    1.Uknown MGA?? DeviceID: 519
    Found G400AGP
    Calc SUM:ff
    Read SUM:5a
    Loading default BIN file g400agp.bin...

    Calculated Pin Sum fe
    E2Prom Pin Sum:66

    Pins have an invalid checksum..
    Or pointer is corrupt

    Examining bios...
    Pins were damaged, information salvaged:
Unable to continue because of a bad PCB#
    PCB#: 1009
    SUBSYSID#: ff7a

Is my G400 dead or can I recover it somehow?

Your card's BIOS lost it's PINs. Fairly common on G400s.
There's a good chance you can save it.
Go to this site, and find the section on PINs. You should be able to find the instructions and files you need there...

        Hi, blackpoint.

I've got the same problem. Tried bios recovery disk - no success.
Even tried to play with 'recover' command line parameters:
        ... recover -f g400agp.bin -sn xxxxxxxxxx -p 906
        ... still, no sucess!
... after holidays will try 'mxinfo' (thanks, Kruzin! )
