I heard Radeon drivers suck beyond friggin imagination for 2D. Considering I play Diablo 2 a lot, forget it. Definitely going with something else. I also see on this forum people aren't very happy with the new offerings from Matrox. Hmm....

      opengl?

AFAIK this is an OpenGL game. There is no EMBM support in OpenGL, just DOT3. The G400 does not support DOT3 but the Parhelia does.

There arent any EMBM extentions, just DOT3.

I disagree completely .. I would say that ATI cards perform really well under 2d and for me the ATI drivers of late have been pretty solid.

I gotta agree with 3dfx. I think that Matrox's 2d is certainly the best but ATI comes a close second.
          P.S. You've been Spanked!

This extension adds environment mapped bump mapping (EMBM) to the GL.
The method exposed by this extension is to use a dependent texture
read on a bumpmap (du,dv) texture to offset the texture coordinates
read into a map on another texture unit. This (du,dv) offset is also
rotated through a user-specified rotation matrix to get the texture
            coordinates into the appropriate space.

Doesn't mean anything for you, Neverwinter nights doesn't use EMBM or any other kind of bumpmapping on the models, it's just environment mapping for the shiny armor and pixel shaders for the water.

I don't believe Matrox ever properly fixed that bug with the shiny armor on the G400 (which if I remember right was a multitexturing issue), so if you don't want to look at chrome models you'll have to either get a different video card or turn environment mapping off in the game.
