@Virgulino: VPs are very expensive, and I don't think they suit your purpose. They are for pure 3d stuff. But yes, the 3dlabs VP architecture is very intersting. I think they treat all its memory as cache or something (I never looked into the 3dlabs chip myself simply because its not my concern). But no doubt its quite cool.

FireGL... they are pretty good and has a great balance between 2d and 3d.

NVIDIA drivers. For their consumer cards, they cheat (and i bet they still does). But I don't think its the same for their workstation class. After all, they don't need their Quadro for 9999fps for Quake 3

In terms of stability, I actually have no idea myself, because I don't turn my computer on straight for 30 days. (usually I feel like turning it off on putting it to suspend-to-ram) But if I compare Matrox G550 with my GeForce FX, I remember I actually did get some fatal error before related to PowerDesk (its one of those low level address crap that I have no idea what's its about). As for my GFFX, after 1/2 year of use, i feel its very stable, at least I have never encountered crash related to ForceWare/Det drivers. (but i'd admit i had problems with running Matrox Reef Demo before, but hey, it was never designed to do so) ATI, they are still good, don't really have a problem with them, at least with my Radeon 8500. I'd get that FSAA problem in unreal 2k3 before, but soon it was fixed, so that's good. (nothing to worry about)
