  • change p750 fan ?

    Hello,

After a long hesitation between P650 and P750, I finally decided to buy a P750...

And, now, I'm going to become crazy with this **** fan !! So, I would like to know if it os possible to change the fan and which models could work ? I can't install a passive solution due to the lack of space.

    Thanks for your answers!

Generally silent fans with the same air volume don't exist.

    You loose

    -air pressure by changing to a silent fan (with the same size), so the chip gets hotter;

    -your warranty.

All you can do is go for a bigger fan - so you can take a slower turning one, but you're going to need a bigger heatsink too.

    Sorry, Hannes

I don't know of any commonly available graphics fansinks that will fit on there without some sort of special attachment, since Matrox uses differant mounting hole positions than the mainstream (ATI, nVidia) graphics cards.

The verax needs 2 adjacent pci-slots. Since you stated there wasn't enough room for passive cooling, I think this one doesn't fit either.

However, it's www.verax.de. Made especially for the parhelia & you get one for ~60E aka ultra-expensive.

            Cheers, Hannes

Digikey probably has a few hundred fans available in amost every size imaginable.

You could just get a 1U copper cooler and use AS Thermal Adhesive to make it stick...

I found the verax here but I don't see why it would take 2 PCI cards.

Hi K6-III, do you have a link for a 1U cooler?
                    Thanks!

Believe us, the Verax takes 2 adjacent slots! I had one. It was very quiet but not great as coolers go, the base plate is is thin so it gets hot even with that great fan on it.

I use the Zalman ZM80C-HP now and it works great.

I don't know if the P750 uses the same mounting pattern as the Parhelia, I hope not. So many good fans would fit if the holes are ATI/Nvidia standard. A G400 uses the standard hole pattern.

You could also make one as suggested but drill the mounting holes in an old heatsink so it matches the P750 holes and it's not permanent.
P4b@2.7, AOpen ax4spe max II, 4X Parhelia 128 with Zalman zm80c and fan -or- ATI Radeon X800GTO, 1024mb.

Ah sorry, my mistake. On my rig 1 pci-slot is blocked.

                        Cheers, Hannes

                          Hi there.

I also use the Zalman ZM80C-HP with ZM-OP1-fan on my Parhelia.
(The fan is connected to a Cooler Master Musketeer-Fancontroller with therm.sensor so I can adjust the fanspeed manually.)

con: takes one pci-slot (hey, who need all 5 or 6 pci slots?? )
