  • g400 rgb-scart quality

    Hi

I've constructed a rgb-scart cable and it works. The picture is good but i was wondering how much the quality of the cable affects the quality of the picture. My cable is just a cut-up monitor cable connected to a cut-up scart cable, and not very neatly done.

I also read somewhere that you dont have to connects all the grounds to the common shield, just to the pins. Is this so? Dont want to try on my cable, im afraid it might fall apart .

Last question. Is there anything else i can do to improve the quality of the picture? Programs, settings and so on?

    Hi

I never saw a big difference between cable quality, on short distances (3m...). On long distances, it's different. I have 15m from PC to TV and connected them together with 4 high video quality coax wich gives a strong signal. Before, with my old (audio like) cable, the picture became dark with a lack of details.

I think you don't have to connect all shields together, but I haven't tried, because I made the the HD15 soldering myself and doing so was more easy.

DVDMax feature gives the best output, because you have no up or downscaling that degrades sharpness of the picture 1->1 frome DVD to TV. In clone mode, for example, if you watch a PAL DVD in 1024x768, there are to conversions : 720x576->1024x768->720x576.

I made my cable by just getting a 'full SCART' cable, and cutting off 1 connector, and soldering the DB15 connector to it.

Picture quality is a good deal better than S-Video, even noticable with relatively short cables on my tv (less than 1.5 metres in length).

And yes, I connected all ground pins with the SCART shield on the end of the DB15 connector.
