Maybe the noise from the G400 fan was more annoying than the CPU and 2 case fans in the picture!

The CPU fan has about 1500rpm@5v and case fans have about 800rpm@5v each (using coolermaster rifle bearing fans). I have also FSP300-60PN PSU with 120mm single fan - operating @3,3v it gives about 500rpm ...I think it is quite silent Even my CRTs are noisier

Yeah, that's a ZM80-HP, which probably is a bit much for the ~10 to 15 W of heat the G400 puts out...

On my G400 MAX, I used a ZM50-HP, which I got cheap on clearance at Fry's some time ago -- and, it works just fine (nice and silent).

              Oh...a Radeon sticker

              don't bother with that
It'll go away, but I don't have any matrox sticker to substitute it...

And why have I used ZM80 instead of cheaper ZM50? Well the reason is theat I've bought it on ebay very very cheap

Hi all. I have a Matrox G-400 zip. Is the HPE designation for a new version of the same card? If so, does it do a better job when mated to the Rainbow Runer G video editing suite than the G-400 zip ever did?

What on earth is a G400 "zip"?
You mean a vanilla G400 (not a Max)?

This "HPE" is not a real designation. Sube just made that up for his home-modified card...
