Heh.
For gaming? Only a little bit, from my understanding."And yet, after spending 20+ years trying to evolve the user interface into something better, what's the most powerful improvement Apple was able to make? They finally put a god damned shell back in." -jwz

That's the same thing I was considereing. Getting a different AGP card (probably an nVidia this time around, since they're the only ones with decent linux support) and then get a PCI parhelia for the more serious work.... Actually, I guess I wouldn't even need a PCI Parhelia, and could just get a PCI G450 or something... but then again, I'd miss surround gaming... Oh decisions decisions...
LeechWah! Wah!

Why is it a waste of money? The PCI card slower than the AGP version or you don't like the card? I've ordered the following cards for my studio and will mix and match to get the best config for work and gaming.
1 x nVidia, QuadroFX 3000, 256MB, dual monitor DVI or VGA
3 x Matrox Parhelia PCI 256meg Video Cards
2 x ATI X800 256 MB AGP Cards
2 x PHY GeForce FX 5200 PCI Graphics Cards
I also ordered:
dual 3.2 2mg cache with 3 gigs of mem Dell precision 650
singe 3.2 extreme with 1.5 gigs of meme Dell precision 360
Please explain how it is a waste of money cause I need a top graphic workstation card and need the desktop space of 3 monitors and I want surround gaming too it possible so something shoud work with these possibilites. I also ordered 3 Planar 23" professional flat screen graphic monitors at 18 hundred bucks each so this system better rock my world! All told I blew 82 grand on one big order from the Dell web site. With all this order, I doubt the waster of money will be consentrated in the video cards:

Not sure what that means, but in my profession of art, we have "patrons" that fund projects and I have a patron covering anything I want in the way of techfnology. My partner is a scientist from Texas Instruments and we invented and patented a robotic paint brush to do fine art paintings. Npow we're going to start teaching people to use it. Hence the technology grant. Only got 100 grand this time but next year I should get a grant for 500K. To me as an artist, it's toys for creativity. The local universities here in Texas are sending me students to train so I needed the gear around the studio to do that. But the added fun is that I'll be able to host some fine frag meets. It's one of the benefits of being an old man in the art game.

I just noticed something... you have some ATI AGP cards listed in there. Thats fine and all, but you might have some issues when trying to put another graphics card in the same system. I don't know if the X800 will have the same problem, but the FireGL and Radeon 9x00 driver app doesn't get along with PCI graphics cards very well.
