  • Parhelia8x 256mb on display at CompUSA

How odd. Went to CompUSA tonight and found that they had on display a Parhelia. I looked in the device manager, and it had 256mb of RAM, and when I loaded up UT2k4, it was set to 3840x1024 and ran pretty smooth... though seemed jerky, due to it being connected to three LCD monitors. I was quite shocked to see it there though! They had a sign there up front saying Matrox Parhelia, $749. Is that how much the Parhelia is going for? Doing a search on CompUSA's website for Matrox and Parhelia only comes up with "You searched for Matrox, viewing results for Matrix." and absolutely nothing for Parhelia.

Odd... I might have to drop by the local CompUSA and see if they happen to have one on display as well...

Sad that the card on Matrox's site is going for 639 and CompUSA wants 749 for it? At first I thought they were talking about the whole system, but then it occured to me that the Parhelia was the 256mb version, and that card alone would have been 600 or so of it. That's scarey. But kind of cool all the same that they had it set up. I'm guessing at that particular CompUSA there is a Matrox fan...

May I ask you which Comp USA location showed this?
