  • Any system manufacturers still use Matrox?

    Hi all,

I previously mentioned my situation in a thead a few days ago. I am wondering whether there are any system manufacturers that still use Matrox video cards. Ideally, I'd like to find a system with a P650 that was otherwise relatively quiet and reasonably priced. If anyone could help me, that would be great.

Yes Dell still ships Matrox cards. I have a P650 in my new Precision 360 but I had to ask for it. It was not among the choices on the web site.
        System : ASUS A8N SLI premium, Athlon 64X2 3800+, 2Gb, T7K500 320Gb SATAII, T7K250 250Gb SATAII, T7K250 250Gb ATA133, Nec ND-3520, Plextor PX130A, SB Audigy 2, Sapphire Radeon X800 GTO, 24" Dell 2407WFP.

          Thanks

Thanks for the replies. I wish you didn't have to call in order to get a Matrox card at Dell, but I might have to do that. Do you know how much they charge for the P650 (whether as an upgrade to on-board video or something else)?

Sorry I don't know how much they charged for the card but the whole system came at 1900€ for a Precision 360, Precott 2,8Ghz, 512Mb, DVD burner, Matrox P650, two 19" CRT, 3year warranty...
I guess the price is similar to that of the standard nVidia Quadro.

              Striking out

So far, I am having no luck. I tried Dell, but even when I called they told me that I could order the card, but it would not come in the machine. I am mostly concerned about this from a warranty standpoint (do Dell's have seals you can't break, etc.?) because it is not for me and I don't want to be tech support. I was resigned to a deal on an HP and plunking a P650 into it, but my buyers dealt that deal a death blow by sitting on their hands until the deal expired. <sigh>

No warranty seal on Dell systems. You can change the hardware inside and still get the warranty (excluding the hardware you installed of course).
