After 2.5 years of nonstop 24/7 being powered up, this is what my Parhelia started sounding like a couple days ago

It's a shame M had to go make their HSF mounting different from everyone else. It'd be nice to just go to the comp store and buy an aftermarket HSF thats close to a direct replacement.
Or if they had used a fan of a more common size.
But that would make too much sense...

Fortunatly for me, I was able to get a real M replacement (hopefully it will arrive tomorrow or Saturday), but Joe Enduser would have to sent the card in for RMA.
Again, it would make too much sense for a common wear item like this fan to be offered on shopmatroxdotcom

Well....not like anyone can do anything about it. Just wanted to vent a little after a long day, and this seemed like as good a thing as any to vent about....

BTW...the noise is the fan spinning up, then blades hitting the cage making it stop, then spinning up again, every 5-10 secs.
over and over and over and.....

Note 1: If used with NVIDIA GeForce FX 5800 or higher model, or Matrox Parhelia, the noiseless fan (ZM-OP1) must be used.

I know if I looked I could find a replacement fan.
But why when I can get a factory replacement free?

Kruzin, could you please edit this thread? The title of the post is messing up the whole Hardware forum

                    Yippie Skippy!
My new fan came in today.
Now I got a nice quiet Parhelia again
And it wasn't just a fan. It was a new HSF assembly. Slightly different than the original. Hopefully with new and improved longer life

dunno what yours looks like, but the HSF on my P750 looks like it's been salvaged from a cheap Taiwanese OEM-made SIS half-ass*d card.

Well, the one that came off was one of the originals. A pre-production BBz 'green-wire special' card. The fan housing rises above the HS fins, and mounts with 4 screws into the fins.
The new one does not rise above the fins, and has no housing surrounding the fan. just a small bracket comes out if the motor, and 3 screws mount it to the base of the HS, rather than the fins.
This appears to allow a little more fin material overall, and I am told the fan itself should last longer than the original.
Only thing is the new fan doesn't have the spiffy Parhelia sticker on it, like the original
