  • help - msi k8n neo2 and parhelia 128

    Hi all,

Hope you can help me, just build a new system but when starting up it gives a long beep and 2 short beeps. The diagnostic leds from MSI turn into green and everything is booting but no display.

Already flashed the bios of the parhelia to the 8 dec. version next to that flashed the msi board to 151b.

Wanted to visit the matrox forums but those lozers closed them down completely, why why oh why basterds. I remember reading there that an other person had the same problem as me.

Tried an ati card and it just worked fine now temporary working with an nvidia ti4800. Tries the parhelia in another board sis / asrock also with a64 and it worked fine.

    Who knows a solution.

    Regards,
    Wingie

Sorry, I can't help you with your problem, but the forums are closed only on weekends, that's sad, but 'bastards' is a bit hard, isn't it?

No, not really. You used to be able to at least READ the forums during non-business hours. The forum is down.

what in the hell are they thinking?

oh well, i guess they just got tired of the bullshit they make people put up with snowballing on them over the weekend and having to put up with 5+ page bitch threads.

Che, you are little bit right, but this the next step in walking away from your responsibilities. A new beta dx9 driver has been promised some time ago still not there, surround gaming what the heck if it weren't for paddy and rus we won't see anything.

And now i'm building a new system, and have a problem with my parhelia (again) wanted to see if someone else has experienced the same and then i am not able to even read something and why what's bad about reading you can't change anything.

          Regards,

Who is now using a ti4280 and this works like a dream.

Oh btw my parhelia is a 128 rev. A retail card.

Is the motherboard using the latest BIOS version?
When you own your own business you only have to work half a day. You can do anything you want with the other twelve hours.

Taz, yep i'm running version 1.5x and tried 1.4 (original) and 1.51

I'm gonna try to flash the parhelia to an old bios because that is the one that has been used by MSI

A thread at matrox is running but they don't have a clue. ;-)

              It should work.

              Thanks,
              Wingie

Please supply me a pin file from a Parhelia 128 Retail Rev. A

                Gents,

Over 1,5 year ago I used the matrox proggie 217up and after that my card was ruined. A lot of hours later searching the internet trying things and even tried to get some help from matrox I managed to get the card working again.

But now with my new MB i've tried almost anything and everyone tells me that the parhelia should work with this board but it doesn't so I want to try to update the pins in the card maybe this helps.

                Regards,
                Wingie

I have (well had actually, I had to RMA my Neo2 Platinum) the board, and it said in it's little 'Test Report' book, that the parhelia should work with it. I don't know if you've tried it already, but try comparing the agp voltage and agp settings from the ASRock that the Parhelia worked in to what the Neo2 is showing. Other than that, I have to say that I had nothing but problems when I got my board....

First major problem... when I tried nvidia's system utility to overclock it.... my USB totally stopped working... A CMOS reset fixed it... but still... that should NOT happen.

Hopefully I'll get it back soon. I have a lonley AMD 64 3200+ Winchester sitting here and a XP-90 Heatsink to go with it!

                    Thanks Leech,

I will try this as soon as my friend is at his home again.

I've tried almost everything now flashed the bios of the parhelia to different versions and even changed the pin files with a version from someone on the web who has his parhelia working on this board.

I've even been back to the store and they tested it and couldn't get it working they also tried another MB dated 0410 mine is 0412.

Regards and all best wishes for 2005,

                    Wingie
