  • Matrox G400 max and MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum with AMD64 3000+ winchester CPU?

Anyone try the combo of Matrox G400 max and MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum with AMD64 3000+ winchester CPU?? Apparantly this does not work and causes serious BSOD issues. A BIOS version higher than 1.1 is required to use the winchester CPU, but when used, this newer BIOS causes BSOD with Matrox G series cards, particularly the G400 max. Matrox is aware of this. MSI hasn't seemed to address the issue with a BIOS revision. Does anyone have any experience with this? Has someone out there had luck with this combo?

thanx in advance for any feedback,

I better bump this thread before it goes off the page and becomes lost in the sea of posts....aaaaaaa....lol...

Wow. Not much action here. I guess 6 years ago when the G400 max was a thriving card there was alot more action.

Nobody out there with an MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum and G400?

Well it seems to me that MSI is to blame... Not much Matrox can do about it...

Correct. I'm looking to see if anyone here has had any luck with the combination.

Well I have an MSI K8N Neo (Socket 754 nForce 3 250GB, not Neo 2) and a Matrox G400 Max. It works great. I've even installed a waterblock on the G400.

            Gorg,

As it should. Using a Newcastle CPU and the 1.1 BIOS causes no such problems on the Neo 2. Its only when you try to use a winchester CPU and are forced to use a higher BIOS than 1.1 on the Neo 2 939 board. There is some funky stuff going on with the implementation of socket 939. Things aren't trouble free, lets put it that way.

            thanx for the feedback,
