  • DVDMAX replacement?

I am looking to replace my (Still working) G400 MAX card with a newer ATI/Nvidia card. Reason being I am considering getting a HDTV card for my box and most utilize the onboard (DXVA) hardware of the radeon 9xxx series to alliviate the CPU load.

But I don't want to lose the wonderfull DVDMAX feature I have with my G400. Earlier experiments (Radeon 9000 Pro) gave me the extra output for my VPH-1031Q CRT projector but it was "always on" even in theater mode. And the Radeon required all kinds of hoop jumping to get a signal that was compatible with my PJ.

The G400 ONLY outputted a (960x540p custom resolution through the matrox tweak utility) signal to the PJ when I was playing a media/DVD file.

Add to this that I was always fearfull that I might forget and change the resolution to a setting that would "break" or let the "magic smoke" out of my VPH-1031Q pj.

Anyone found a modern solution? DXVA based cards are a must.

That's too bad. I use the MyHD card which doesn't care what graphics card you use. You can run pass-through to the MyHD card or use it in multi-monitor mode (one display on the MyHD card and another display(s) on your graphics card). I use the DVI-D daughter card and run DVI pass-through (no conversions).

Simply you can enable DXVA in Parhelia Powerdesk HF control panel under "video playback settings" section menu (the DXVA option it's called MOTION COMPENSATION), and in the same menu you can enable DVD MAX!
