    Ciao Amiga; come va?

Sadly i think that for Matrox is the start of the end. I hope they will relaunch the company with a new chip, but if they don't move quickly they will go out of business for sure!

I hope Matrox will release an upgraded Parhelia card (for Surround Gaming) this year. I will buy anything that is:
          - DX9 compatible
          - PCI Express
          - hopefully a bit faster than the current Parhelia AGP card.

I don't really care how much faster it would be, but I'd like to upgrade my motherboard/CPU soon and actually play some newer DX9 games too...

            DX9 Card

Matrox must develop a card that is WGF 2.0 compliant in order to gain market share for the next WIndows OS's.

Directx 9 card will meet WGF 2.0 spec?

According to this link you gave earlier (in The Crystal Ball forum), it doesn't meet "WGF 2.0" requirements:
ExtremeTech is the Web's top destination for news and analysis of emerging science and technology trends, and important software, hardware, and gadgets.

If I understand correctly, DX9 is pretty much the same as "WGF 1.0" and then there is this "WGF 2.0", witch will have some totally new features...

Producing a competivive video card in the next years will be very difficult. Matrox must improve their 3d speed and quality play the game with competitors. Next Gen OS's UI are build around 3d interface. Nvidia g70 speed are twice 2 6800 ultra. So Matrox, pull out something amazing.

Matrox already has the quality for many professional markets and I'm pretty sure that they aren't going to fight for gaming markets. I just hope that they will upgrade Parhelia to DX9 to insure even better compatibility with upcoming professional applications. This seems to be the only way I could get some benefit from this upgrade and I could still continue Surround Gaming.

However, if they really want to compete in the 3D animation / CAD markets, they need to focus on performance too...

They must be working on something new for their 30th anniversary (next year), right?

About all I would expect is a new look to their web site and a fresh spin at marketing their current product line.

Sure they are, I expect we'll see it when Duke Nukem Forever comes out, DX10 is the graphics path DNF will use so we'll definitely need a new card by then.
