  • Matrox G400 ok to use on modern mainboard?

I have an old Matrox G400 DH AGP (2X/4X, it has a 4A extention on the board). Now, I am getting a new motherboard, and I want to keep this video card since I was happy with how it worked. But someone told me that the old Matrox card will fry the modern motherboards because of wrong voltage? incompabilty? And I did some seach on the net and found this http://episteme.arstechnica.com/gro.../m/419006624731

The mainboard I have considered is Asus P4S800D-X

The question is can I use my Matrox G400 card on this mainboard without frying/destroing the entire mainboard?

I think my card is the universal AGP 2.0

    Asus P4S800D-X Manual

If it's 4A it's AGP 4x capable and all AGP8x boards also take 4x cards, so it should work. Even the 2x cards should work as they are only not detected properly in all boards.

will it swith to 1.5volt automatically? it supports both 1.5volt and 3.3volt

the card is universal AGP 2.0

is the AGP SLOT universal 3.0 or just "AGP 3.0"?
if it is only AGP 3.0 it doesnt work
