not sure as they have been doing this thing for video walls for ages.

Check out the price though... I know it includes screens but.

I think their target is taking some of the 9xmedia market.

Not quite, a traditional video wall box just stretches the signal across the monitors.

This reports a wider rez to the card, and thus you get to use (1024*3) x 768 for example

So basically not too much trouble to get to 6 screens!! With a dual output graphics card with a fair whack of memory. The Finance market should love this. Where does this leave the mms products?

Keep in mind, this product works of your analog output, drives an analog signal.

As for 6 monitors, I have no Idea.

I will be asking questions off the appropriate people a little later, so hopefully we get an answer sometime Friday US time.

Feel free to post questions, and any that don't involve when do we get RSN (it's already on my list) I will consider passing on.

I don't think it will be taken up by the finance market, I work in finance from my office and started off with a parhelia in stretched mode across 3 screens. Stretched mode really is not very nice to work in when you are messing about with graphs imo as you spend 90% of your time on the main screen and use the peripheral ones only to check price/movement. Have since bought a G200 MMS and am running 5 screens all independantly, Much better, no stretched taskbar and higher resolution/diffent resolutions on the screens now - would never go back to stretched mode.

However on the odd occasion i play a game, you really can't beat stretched mode surround gaming.

This product looks ace for that, but a little expensive i would say. But hey, if you can affor 3 screens then matrox probably figure you can pay a premium to them for a one off product.

Intersting... Well, one question could be: is there a DVI version in the works?
              (is it even possible?)

Still, I'm not sure what it means for Matrox Graphic cards. They use to have the edge when it came to multimonitor, but isn't this (nice) product soft of undermining the edge they have/had when it comes to multimonitor cards?
(of course, if they are to release a new card, this reasoning is mainly important for the price point of their card: it must be cheaper than a competitors' card + TripleHead2Go)
edit: of course, they might still have the edge in independant resolutions

Too bad almost everything is going digital.
I just don't see people buying this and connecting it to their big expensive LCD panels and having it look like crap because its analog.

You know, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that you'd get out better analogue signal quality from these things than you put in... Matrox must still have some residual knowledge left to be able to clean the signals up a bit...

As a side issue, if it took them all these months to put out the 3htg after the 2htg, what are the chances of them having a directX10 card available in the months around Vista launch?

I think the price of 3htg is a lot for a home user but hey, I was just viewing another forum where ppl buy 2-cpu dual-core opteron systems for their home just so they can get higher SETI scores... so there must be plenty of people who can afford it :P

                          TripleHead2Go compatibility information:

It seems that the NVIDIA cards have much better support than the ATI cards...
