  • TripleHead Question...

Does anyone know if M is thinking/making a tripleHead for 20in and higher widescreens ?

    and

What sort of bandwidth would be needed to set up a 3x1680x1050 or a 3x1920x1200 setup ?
(From the TDMS transmitters, since i think it is they that feed the Monitors...)

Just want to get an idea of what it will take...

    cheers

Single Link DVI can support up to 1920x1200 (Wide-UXGA) at 60Hz, so bandwidth isn't an issue over the cable... its more of an issue with actually having 3 dvi outputs on the board. This also assumes that their tmds transmitters can support full 165MHz link speed.
Also, the 3rd head is analog only if I recall correctly.

I am contemplating replacing my CRT 19in with a TFT or three, but am holding off 'till the 100Hz and + screens start to be popular...

DualHead leaves a big line down the middle of FPS games, and three monitors would be sweet, just why not 20in or 22-24in since they will be popular and relativeley cheap in a year or so..

edit: Basically then, if you need a 165MHz tdms transmitter for 1920x1200, then you would need Triple-link tech on the video card to do Triple head on it...
