  • Identification of Matrox G45FMDVP32DBF card

    Helllo,
A seller from a remote town is offering me a card made by Matrox. He does not know the "normal" model name, only the P/N which is G45FMDVP32DBF. He said that the card is PCI, had VGA and DVI.

The results of Google search indicate that this is some Matrox G450 PCI with VGA+DVI (like on this picture: http://www.plonter.co.il/graphics/pr...50-32-PCI.jpg). I do not know the RAM capacity but I suppose that it is 32 MB because of the P/N.

    Now I have several questions:

1] Are there any quality/performance differences (except PCI vs. AGP) between this G450 and the normal G450 (GPU/RAM speed, signal quality, RAMDAC speed, TV-out funcionality, etc.)?
2] Which output is primary here - VGA or DVI? If VGA is primary, then I doubt that DVI can be used for TV-out (I have never seen a DVI -> SVHS/RCA converter). And what is the max. resolution on the DVI output?
3] Does a PCI edition of Matrox G400 exist?
4] When you would decide between regular G400 and regular G450, which one is better in criterias *other* than speed (I know that G450 is slightly slower)?

I have a quad "thanks" pack ready for those who answer all four questions.

    Hello,

This is your card, Matrox Millennium G450 PCI:

    1) G450 AGP does not have DVI.

You can't use DVI and TV-out at the same time with G450 AGP Low-profile card:

    2) DVI is the primary output. The maximum resolution with a digital monitor is 1280x1024. If you use an analog monitor as your primary monitor, then you can reach 2048x1536.

    3) No.

    4) G400 has slightly better TV-output quality, but on the other hand, it doesn't have DVI.
