which hl update to use?

i'm borrowing my bro's copy of hl, and was wondering what version i should upgrade to for a g200. they don't seem to let you go from 1.0 to anything, it always goes from 1.0.x to something higher... so how do i do this?

The versions of Half-Life are as follows:

1.0.0.5 - Original
1.0.0.7 - 1st update (I think)
1.0.0.8 - 2nd update (Includes Team Fortress Classic)
1.0.1.0 - 3rd update
1.0.1.3 - Latest version

You can get the latest version from the Sierra or WON web site.

I just got a copy of half-life "game of the year edition", which is version 1.0.1.1. Now how the hell do I update this to 1.0.1.3? The included update utility does not work.
