Icestorm - if you can post that config file I'd be grateful.

I only had a couple of Protection Faults and the system did recover, just ranting but useful info notheless.

Okay, here's a stupid question, how do you run the timedemos to get the FPS value for Half-Life? I know I've done it before but just plain forgot so don't flame me!

          Hey guess what?

Installed the 5.25 drivers and now when HL crashes out I get the error message "Too many decal surfaces", what that all about then?

Decals are the marks you make on a texture when you (e.g.) fire a gun. I guess that some buffer somewhere has been bust with the new drivers.

Kruzin - can you disable decals in Half Life?

To disable decals just put r_decals "0" in your autoexec.cfg, d3d.cfg, or whatever config autoloads when you play.

Usually you don't have to turn them off...just reduce the number of decals...
                r_decals "200"
and you'll never get too many...
