  • G200 IS faster than VOODOO 2!

    IT'S NOT A JOKE!
I got my hands on an Powercolor Evilking, at my work and took it home and plugged it in!
I tested it in Final Reality (OK, i can hear you all laughing....)
ind the g200 was 3 or 4 fps faster in the different benshmarks!
I did'nt belive in those figures since FR is old an outdated!
So i tested it in Tirtanium instead!(it supports 3DNOW - Great!)
The G200 fought and beated the W2 in resolutions from 512*384 to 800*600!
Always being a couple of fps faster!
And of course the voodoo 2 looks like crap compared to what the G200 can output!
I was greatly disapointed after all those "Voodoo2 is faster than G200" benshmarks on the net!

Note if this thread mutates into a "Voodo fanatics VS G200 fanatics" i wil kindly ask Phil to kill it and end its misery!

It's not faster as far as I can tell...

I tried a G200 in a computer that also had a Voodoo 1 card installed. The G200 couldn't even handle Quake 2 at 640x480 with a decent frame rate, whereas the Voodoo 1 does well at 640x480.

In terms of beating the 800x600 on a Voodoo 2, the G200 doesn't stand a chance.

        LOL!!!
even my I740 (66@100Mhz) was faster than the g200....
        even in Q3A....
and V2 was much faster than G200 (only in Q3A slower)

As soon as I get more enjoyment out of watching benchmarks run, I will get rid of my V2

Nitromind: You must have sniffed too much nitro, then sneezed, because I don't think there is a benchmark out there that the i740 does better than the G200, or a game for that matter. I used to have an i740 in my second system, it looked like shit, played like shit, hell it even smelled like shit when it fired up. My G200 was a GIANT step above it.

I believe he said it's faster than the G200, NOT the G400.

I concur with that statement. I've used an I740 with Quake 3 before, and it runs so much better than the G200.

What was Matrox thinking with the G200 anyway? There was a "3d accelerator" that couldn't even compete with products several years older. It's really really pathetic when your 3D isn't even as good as ATI

(Yes, I know the G400 is an improvement, but they still have work to do)

You two must have been doing something seriously wrong. 3D has NEVER looked better on any ATI. And as far as the i740 goes, it doesn't even compare to the G200. With the latest drivers, I can play just about any game out right now. Can't say the same for the i740, or ATI RageTurbo.

                            Hi Technoid,

                            just ignore those rantings ...

                            Back to topic:

Have you seen MY G200 in that given database ?
My system is called MadMaxx 500A and the tests were done with my famous Revision-5 Mystique OCed til it smoked

How close did yours come to mine ?

I stomped most of the competition (TNT, TNT-U2, Voodoo2 SLI and more) in D3D and in OGL I scored inthe upper mid-range.
