G400 low 3D Mark?

I have a K6II-450 Mhz,win98,G400 and I'm not satisfied with my 3d mark. I use 3d mark max and I get about 2840 points @ 800*600 16 bit colours. but I also get about 2800 points @1024*768 32 bit colour/z-buffer... My cpu mark is approx 5800 and that I think that is acceptable. Is it that the system uses agp2x that slows down the g400? The system doesn't crash though... I use v5.20 drivers 'cause v5.25 made Hidden and dangerous slow down to the most silly fps i've ever seen!
Should I get ~4000 3d points? Or do I demand too much? I bougth my g400 'cause I like high resolutions and deep colours!!
