Hi!
Maybe you already know this, but in case noone else has found out how to do a real "running demo" timedemo and not just the timedemo scores that are available when playing the game, I found out how to do it.
First make sure you have UT version 348. If you have 338, get the patch from www.unrealtournament.com
Download the timedemo patch from unreal.epicgames.com !!!!
I've recorded a demo called jake.dem. If you want to use it for comparison it can be found here jacob.frostholm.homepage.dk/jake.zip
Copy the jake.dem file to your UT system folder.
Start UT.
Start a game. (If you don't do this the loadtime when switching to 3d will screw up your benchmark result by showing to few frames).
Open the console with the tilde "~".
Type:
------------------------
Timedemo 1
Demoplay jake?noframecap
------------------------
Close the console again. (quickly)
When the demo finishes open the console and check your score. With my old G200 running D3D at 640*480, textures high, sound on I got 29.4 fps average. And that's with no video OC'ing.
if you want to run the demo more than on in different resolutions and colordepths, remember to type timedemo 0 in between benchmarks to reset the timer.
I know that my demo sucks bigtime, so feel free to record a better one, upload it to the net and post the link here (for the rest of us to enjoy). Type demorec demoname to start recording and stopdemo to stop recording.
Maybe you G400 people could do both D3D and OpenGL test. My OpenGL scores are REALLY low.
Have fun,
Jake
