thanks for the info.

One odd thing: If I change the bits on the settings already included in the config.cfg file, they stay changed. But, if I ad a setting, like set gl_triplebuffer "1", and then run quake2, the config file after running no longer contains the command line.

any thoughts?

Don't put the commands in config.cfg (which is generated by the game each time it is run)....put them in autoexec.cfg...
