Well, technically agp cards are only manufactured run at 66mhz. When you overclock your bus, you inheritly overclock the agp bus too. Most modern bios' do have a multiplier to keep that agp near 66mhz. So, say I run a 100mhz bus with a 2/3 agp multiplier. That means my agp will run 2/3's that of my bus speed, which is 66mhz exact. No problem there. Say I run 112mhz bus... well 2/3's of that is almost 75mhz. 75mhz is usually the fine line of tolerance levels for agp cards running in 2x mode... although some people can get away with much more if they are lucky. If you run a 133mhz bus and your multiplier only allows 2/3's, your going to be running that agp card at nearly 89mhz... which is well above the tolerance level most people consider. If your mobo has a 1/2 multiplier, go for it... that will put your agp bus speed back where it should be, at 66mhz. If you don't have a mutiplier like that, then your SOL. You can try and force agp 1x and hope for the best. Running agp 2x is really picky as hell about speeds over 75mhz. It has something to do with agp sidebanding.

      hey thanks for that info
sounds like i need a mother board with 1/4
would that get me near 66 for the agp
what speed decrease would u get going back to 1 x agp?
      thanks cya seven

well, agp 2x and 1x both operate at the same bus speed. Instead of explaining the differences between both modes, you can read a very nice article here:
        http://epsilon.silicon.net.my/adrian...banding_01.htm

It explains the overclocking and optimizations of the agp bus. A good read if you've got the time....

          Hi there

No motherboard based upon Intel 440BX chipset suports AGP 1/2 divisor. Only 1 and 2/3. Only Via Apollo pro chipsets suports it.

I have no personal experience, but I have seen some posts here stating that the G400 does well with an 89 Mhz AGP (133 fsb). Do some search in the fori.

            hello

i have a g400 dh which is working just as well on the 133mhz as it did on the std 100. It would only do agp1x on the 100 as well. stability is not a problem.

My Max is running fine with AGP 2x transfers with a 124Mhz front side bus. It seems like many of us (those who don't already have AGP 2x/1x induced problems) are having success with higher than 100Mhz bus speeds and G400s.
