    Uh, I'm pretty sure about this, but I could be wrong. Half-Life always plays at 16-bit color, whether the desktop is 16-bit or 32-bit. You have to run Half-Life with the command line switch -32bpp to run it in 32-bit color.

      I have an Awe64 too,and had the skipping sound problems. Get the newest creative awe64 drivers, go to your device manager and on your sound card's property sheet uncheck "Enable Duplex etc" or "allow duplex such an such". That cured all my Hl sound probs, good luck!
