  • Kruzin, My New Max Pukes on Homeworld!!

I am really disappointed. I installed the Max and briefly ran Homeworld, and others. I spoke too soon. I removed my V2 sli, registry entrys,3dfx find, etc. Iam trying to run OGL 1024 by768. P2 400 128 mg. Random lockups or Page faults at close. I really hate to return the Max, But... Please Advise..over

I just came out of a 2 hour game of Homeworld. Ran great.

My suggestion is to run it in D3D mode. Looks virtually identical to OGL mode in this game...

I have a Asus P2B-F, 384 MB RAM, Vanilla G400, P3-450~556, Diamond MX300 and a 2940U2W SCSI. Homeworld runs fine in both OpenGL and D3D, except that in OPenGL I get some clipping and missing polygin corruption. nothing too drastic, just mildly anoying. I can run every res comfortabley. Maybe something else is causing the problem?

What MB do you have? Are you forcing AGP2X? I hate to say it, but you really sould provide some more details to actually expect some usefull help.
A computer is like sex. Your never 100% sure what your doing but when all goes well, it feels REAL good.

I have run Homeworld in D3D mode at various resolutions (800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024) and color (16 bit or 32 bit)on my P3-450@558/G400 system. I have various degrees of clipping/missing polygon corruption also, particulaly on the mothership and large objects. Has anyone overcome similar problems by fiddling with any settings, video or otherwise?
Genom, I agree the graphics gliches are mildly annoying but the game is beautiful enough that I have held off playing it until the problem get solved by new drivers, a game patch or any other means.

        Thanks in advance. lfan

No I have no problems running homeworld in d3d so far. agp 2x not a problem. Ogl seems to page fault to an unknown module, and DDraw. My main concern was to find if anyone culd run Homeworld in Ogl. Thanks folks,as usual for the info! So far, it seems the max is faily stable(with my system) I will test more today. The game runs ok with minor clipping, the crash is at close or random events while playing!
